St. Cloud Police were called to the Veterans Bridge Friday afternoon for a suicidal man. Police found the man sitting on a railing in the middle of the bridge threatening to jump.

The St. Cloud Police Department crisis negotiators were called to the scene. Both eastbound and westbound traffic on the bridge was blocked. Crisis negotiators negotiated with the man for about 30 minutes before the man came down off the railing and officers detained him.

The 39-year-old man from St. Cloud was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for an evaluation and the roadway was opened up shortly after the incident. St. Cloud Police were assisted by the St. Cloud Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.
