Archived: Teenager Recovering After Hunting Accident
A 16-year-old teenager is recovering after accidently shooting himself in the foot while pheasant hunting Sunday. Benton County Sheriff’s Office was called around 3:15 p.m. for a report of a hunting accident in Glendorado Township.
The caller told officers that his step son had accidentally shot himself in the foot while hunting. The accident occurred at a hunting preserve near the intersection of Benton County Road 9 and Highway 95.
Officers say the trigger of the shotgun caught on a loop of the young man’s hunting vest causing the gun to fire. The victim was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
