A 73-year-old man died Wednesday in Eden Lake Township. The man’s wife called the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office around 6 p.m. where deputies responded to their home on Rice Lake near Paynesville. The woman reported that her husband went down to the lake to pull the dock out and soon she no longer could see him, or the vehicle he was driving.

The man was found in the water, in between a pontoon and the lift wheel for the pontoon lift. He was brought to shore and it was determined he had died. The Paynesville Police Department assisted at the scene. The name of the victim has not been released. The accident is still under investigation by the Stearns County Sherriff’s Office and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
