Archived: Another Round Of Snow Could produce 4-6 Inches By Tuesday

The St. Cloud are has been placed under a Winter Weather Advisory.

According to SCSU Meteorology Professor Bob Wesiman, temperatures will be in the middle 30’s today, so at first the snow will melt on contact. However, during the afternoon temperatures will turn near freezing allowing the snow to accumulate rapidly, at rates of one inch per hour. The afternoon commute will be difficult with low visibility due to falling and blowing snow.

As temperatures continue to fall, the snow will not only accumulate but will produce ice underneath the pavement. The snow is set to taper off around midnight, however winds will still be strong and temperatures will be below freezing. This means that even plowed surfaces will be icy without sand and salt.

Wesiman predicts that the St. Cloud area could see 4-6 inches of snow by tomorrow.
