Archived: Atmosphere Tickets Sell Out in Under 5 Hours

Tickets to next month’s highly-anticipated Atmosphere concert sold out in 2 1/2 hours, according to St. Cloud State. Hundreds of students stood in line Friday morning to be among the first to get their hands on some tickets. The popular hip hop group from Minneapolis is putting on a show at SCSU on February 24th. Student tickets went on sale at 10am and were sold out by 2:30pm.

"I’ve been here since 7am," said SCSU student Jim Scully.

Twisting and turning throughout Atwood, the line for Atmosphere tickets was a sight to be seen. Especially when you consider the time of day, and the clientele.

"I’ve never seen anything like this. I’m surprised that on a Friday morning that many students would be here," said Marion Sell, Manager of the Atwood Information Desk.

The University Program Board is selling 1,000 first come first serve tickets to students at $20 a pop.

"We probably will sell out soon," said Sell (at 9:30am Friday).

Nearly 1,200 people have already said they plan on going on the event’s facebook page. Perhaps that’s why the true Atmosphere diehards were up and at it early on a Friday morning.

"I’ve liked them since middle school. I relate to their lyrics," said Scully.

"It’s real music. It’s not the fake stuff that’s often on the radio. It’s just straight real from south Minneapolis," said SCSU student Matt Hickman.

The Welcome to Minnesota tour will feature four other artists. Tickets for the general public, sold at downtown St. Cloud’s Electric Fetus, were sold out in less than an hour.
