A barn caught fire near St. Martin.

According to Stearns County Sheriff Steve Soyka, a barn with 5000 bales of hay burned down Monday afternoon and has been ruled a total loss.

The owner, 62-year-old Randall Hemmesch of Paynesville, was not home when the barn went up in flames.

No animals were injured in the fire and the cause is still under investigation.
