Archived: Baseball Returning from Arkansas with 2-1 Record

The St. Cloud State baseball team is coming back from Arkansas with two wins under their belt after an 8-4 victory in game one and an 8-5 loss in game two of their doubleheader with Arkansas Tech.

Sophomore Shawn Riesgraf earned the win for the Huskies in game one, going five innings and allowing just three earned runs while striking out five batters. The Chaska, Minnesota native got some help from his offense as SCSU notched eight hits in the game. Center fielder Brian Hansen had a great game from the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs-batted-in.

Eric Loxtercamp’s two-run home run wasn’t enough for the Huskies in game two as they fell to ATU 8-5. SCSU had a 4-2 lead early in the game but couldn’t hold on as the defense committed four errors.

SCSU is now 2-1 on the season and will be in action next when they head to Evansville, Indiana for the Dunn Hospitality Group Classic Tournament. Defending NCAA Division Two champion Southern Indiana will host the tournament which takes place March 6-14.
