Archived: Bats Open Week in First Place

The St. Cloud River Bats ended its week on a bad note, but still have the satisfaction of being atop the North Division standings. The Bats four game winning streak was snapped on Sunday by Brained Area Lakes in a 9-1 loss. The Bats offense prior to Sunday’s contest was hot as they scored six runs in all four of their wins over Duluth and Brainerd last week. Tommy Coyle, who recently joined the team, leads the way with a .419 batting average. St. Cloud sits in a tie for first in the North Division with Rochester.

The Bats will spend much of their upcoming week on the road. After a double header at Joe Faber Field on Tuesday, the Bats travel north of the border to Thunder Bay for three games, before returning to Minnesota for a two-game weekend series at Mankato.
