ST. CLOUD, MN – Benton County sheriff Troy Heck has decided not to run for re-election this November.

Heck has been sheriff for 11 years, and a member of the sheriff’s office for 32. His term will end in January 2027.

Heck wrote in a statement to KVSC, “I am confident that I leave this office well-positioned to continue providing high quality public safety services under the guidance of the next sheriff.”

Heck wrote that he is most looking forward to spending time with his family and pursuing hobbies.
