By Nathan Daggett / Assistant News Director
A bicyclist was seriously injured and airlifted after he crashed into a vehicle Tuesday in Holdingford.
The Stearns County Emergency Communications Center received a call just after 11:15 a.m. when the caller reported that a cyclist had serious injuries.
Sixty-six-year-old Christopher Tacl was riding his bike northeast on the Wobegon Trail when he failed to stop for a trail stop sign. He struck a vehicle on the passenger side.
Sheriff Soyka reports that Tacl was given immediate medical assistance by the female driver and another bystander until Holdingford Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene.
Tacl was later airlifted by North Memorial Air Care to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. He suffered life-threatening injuries and is listed in critical condition.
The crash remains under investigation and the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind all trail users to use caution on area trails and to obey all stop signs and other safety signage.
