On Saturday night, St. Cloud city employees reported a possible body in the Mississippi River near the University Bridge.

St. Cloud Police and Fire departments and the Stearn’s County Sheriff’s Water Patrol removed the body from the river. The body was then taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy identified the deceased as 58-year-old Dennis Everett Button.

The preliminary cause of the death was determined to be fresh water drowning. Button’s family members in North Dakota were notified.
