Archived: Census Kick-Off Coming to St. Cloud
Now that a New Year and decade has begun, the United States Census Bureau is getting ready to take a count across the country. They’ll be holding a local kick-off to the 2010 census here in Saint Cloud. It’s happening January 13th at 10 a.m. at Saint Cloud City Hall. Census officials will talk about the importance of the count, which happens every 10 years. They will also talk about how community members have gotten involved so far.
Census numbers are used to determine a variety of things, including legislative redistricting, as well as funding for schools, housing and roads. The 2010 census is one of the shortest in history. It has about 10 questions that will take about 10 minutes to do. Census forms will be mailed out to homes later on in March.
