Archived: Community Service Work Projects On Display
Items made by criminal offenders doing community services work projects will be on display starting Monday, March 1 in the Stearns County Administration Center Rotunda. Stearns County Community Corrections Division of Human Services is putting these items and information on display to tout the County’s Sentence to Serve, or STS program.
STS is a supervised work crew program of offenders who do community service projects for non-profit agencies and governmental bodies. Offenders do the community service work as an alternative to jail time or instead of paying a fine. Offenders can pay back the community by completing service work, and can also gain skills or learn a new occupation. Some available jobs include carpentry, paint, landscape, clear disaster areas, and many other projects. All labor is free.
These items will be on display until Friday, March 5th. For more information call 203-6942.
