Authorities are trying to figure out how a driver ended up dead inside his overturned car in the Elk River. The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Department found 19-year-old Casey Krogstad of Becker in the driver’s seat of his car on Sunday afternoon. Officials say his car was upside down in the Elk River near County road 16 and County Road 20 in Haven Township, just north of Clear Lake. Officials say Krogstad appeared to have died due to injuries associated with the crash. The car was pulled out of the water using a tow truck. Authorities say it was substantially damaged. Investigators are reconstructing the crash site in hopes of learning more about the events leading up to the death.
