Archived: Deadly Crash in Maywood Township
Two people are dead and two others were taken to St Cloud Hospital with various injuries after a two-car accident in Maywood Township yesterday. According to Benton County Sheriff Brad Bennett, Brian Miller, 19, of Pierz, was driving a car southbound on County Road Seven when he failed to stop at a stop sign around 3:30 PM.
Miller’s car then broad-sided a minivan containing three passengers. The driver of the minivan, Jerome Knutson of Foreston, 66, was pronounced dead at the scene. The back-seat passenger of the minivan, 41 year old Ronda Bouma of Foley, was also pronounced dead at the scene. The third passenger Joan Knutson,67, of Foreston was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Miller was treated for minor injuries at the scene and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for further evaluation. The accident remains under investigation and no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
