An 18-year-old man and 16-year-old girl were arrested for allegedly stealing a pickup truck and attempting to flee the state. The Benton County Sheriff’s Department says last Saturday, a driver called 9-1-1 and said the truck was weaving over the center line. A deputy pulled the truck over in Foley and administered field sobriety tests on the driver, 18-year-old Phillip White. The Sheriff’s Department says White was not drunk but the truck was not registered to him. It was stolen from a home in rural Minden Township in Benton County.

Officials say the 16-year-old female passenger intended to leave the state voluntarily with White against her parent’s wishes. White was arrested for stealing the truck. The girl was brought to a juvenile detention center pending a court hearing.
