Archived: Excessive Heat Warning Through Wednesday

The news on the weather front has not changed, we are still under an excessive heat warning in Central Minnesota through Wednesday. SCSU Meteorology professor Bob Weisman says the drier air and less clouds are allowing more sun, allowing temperatures to climb into the low 90’s, with dew points in the upper 70’s. This will again produce heat indices in the 100-110 range, so seniors and kids should be in cool areas in the afternoon and evening and you should push strenuous outdoor exercise either into the morning or indoors.

Weisman says we reached a heat index of 106 on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, he does not see real relief from the sultry air until Thursday with the possibility of widespread severe weather on Wednesday night. Weisman reports that we’ve got a stickier forecast than even a Florida summer forecast right now. You can view his personal scale of Minnesota Mugginess, and his complete forecast here.
