Archived: Exciting Weekend Pushes SCSU Into 1st

After a game tying goal with 0.01 left in the 3rd period on Friday and a 6-0 victory on Saturday, the SCSU Men’s Hockey team finds itself in a tie for 1st place in the WCHA

The Huskies were down by one goal on Friday against Alaska-Anchorage with 22 seconds left and on the powerplay. The Huskies had a faceoff in the Seawolves zone and after pulling Dan Dunn from his net, the Huskies used their two man advantage and a little luck to tie the game behind Ben Hanowksi’s goal to skate to a 4-4 tie.

On Saturday, no late period heroics were needed as they breezed to a 6-0 win behind Mike Lee’s first career shutout and two goals by both Aaron Marvin and Garrett Roe. On the weekend, Ryan Lasch had six points, putting him in 3rd place for the all time scoring list in Saint Cloud State history. Lasch is now just 12 points behind Jeff Saterdalen’s all time mark of 179 points.

Saint Cloud is now 10-1-1 over their last 12 games and host North Dakota this weekend at the National Hockey Center for another round of WCHA games.
