Two people are dead after a serious car crash in St. Cloud. At about 10 a.m. Saturday morning emergency crews responded to the intersection of 54th Avenue and 8th Street North in St. Cloud for a deadly crash. Police say 64-year-old Donald John Haase of St. Cloud was driving on 8th Street North approaching 54th Avenue when his pickup truck crossed the median and hit a car driven by 26-year-old Jessica Lynn Thaemlitz of Boyd. Police say Thaemlitz was making a left turn onto 8th Street when she was hit.

Police say the truck driven by Haase continued on 8th Street when it rolled into the ditch, and struck and snapped off a utility pole. Police say the utility pole and wires fell on top of the truck and emergency crews were unable to get to the truck until the electric company arrived and cut the power. Both Haase and Thaemlitz were pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses say the pickup appeared to be accelerating and was out of control when it went through the intersection. The crash remains under investigation while officials await results from the medical examiner’s office.
