Three members of a Richmond family survived a house fire early Wednesday morning that destroyed their home.  The Stearns County sheriff’s office received the report of the fire at 5:44 a.m. at 21692 Deep Lake Road in Eden Lake Township.

Smoke detectors alerted and woke up the Eric and Nancy Kohorst family. They got out of the home safely with their 11 year old daughter. The Eden Valley and Richmond fire departments worked on the fire, but the home is considered to be a total loss. 

The cause of the fire is not determined, but a recently installed wood burning stove is being investigated.
