Two former coaches from the Lake Park Audubon Girls Basketball team have been charged with 4th degree criminal sexual conduct and misconduct of a public official in Stearns County. County Attorney Janelle Kendall filed the charges Friday in District Court against 29 year old Darrin Alan Myhre and 33 year old Andrew Patrick Schwan.  Schwan is also facing an additional charge of furnishing tobacco to a minor.

The charges stem from last December, however the police investigation did not start until February of this year.  According to the complaints, the incident allegedly happened with two players on the team in the late evening hours of December 29, 2009 at the Holiday Inn in St. Cloud.  The team was staying at the hotel while competing in a tournament in Upsala. The two men were teachers and basketball coaches for the Lake Park Audubon district, which is located about 30 miles east of Moorhead.  The details of the complaint against the two men include a series of events with the two girls that started in the hotel pool followed by text messages and ending in the coaches’ hotel room where alcohol was present.  The complaint includes details of inappropriate sexual touching of the girls, who were minors.  Myhre and Schwan are scheduled to make their first appearance in Stearns County District Court on Monday, September 27.
