According to the Minnesota Department of Health, 40 percent of Minnesota homes contain radon, an odorless, colorless gas which can cause lung cancer. Because Stearns County’s underlying geology seem to have a higher potential for increased radon levels, the Environmental Service Department has a small supply of free, short-term radon testing kits.
