ST. CLOUD, Minn. – In a game with massive playoff implications, the St. Cloud State men’s soccer team battled to a 3-3 draw with Davenport on Sunday. Andres Garcia scored twice for the Huskies in the match, his second multi-goal game of the season.

Both teams entered the afternoon tied for the final playoff spot in the GLIAC, each looking to snap a two match losing streak. With just five matches remaining in the regular season, the intensity was high from the start.

The Huskies didn’t wait around to get the first goal. Just four and half minutes in, Garcia was the benefactor of an excellent pass from Santi Martin, splitting throught the defense and chipping the ball by the keeper. Kingsley Kanu also picked up an assist on the goal. Five minutes later, the Panthers equalized off a corner kick. The ball was deflected to Alexis Rivera-Velasquez who vollied it home to even the score.

At the 24 minute mark, Garcia struck again. Kanu earned his second assist, finding Marlon Seahorn Jr. with a beautiful cross in the box. Seahorn Jr. tapped the ball to Garcia for the finish and the 2-1 SCSU lead. Just one minute later, Davenport was awarded a free kick deep in Huskies territory. Charlie Davis played the ball brilliantly towards the back post, where Jordy Rodriguez leapt up and headed it into the net.

In the second half, the Panthers took their first lead of the match on a Drew Matyunas shot in the 57th minute. Davis earned his second assist of the match for Davenport.

The resilient Huskies kept the pressure on and found a response. Jovan Koceski played the ball past midfield where Garcia was able to run onto it and find a lane to cross the ball towards the back post. The pass found King Dwumah Acheampong who beat the keeper in the 71st minute.

SCSU controlled possession and had multiple chances over the final 20 minutes but couldn’t find a fourth goal. The Huskies are now 1-5-2 in GLIAC play.

St. Cloud State will be back in action on Wednesday, hosting Roosevelt for their final home game of 2026. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. from Husky Stadium
