ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Payton Holloway had a goal and an assist to help lead the St. Cloud State Huskies to a 3-1 victory and a series sweep of the Bemidji State Beavers on Saturday.

Alexis Ehrman made 23 saves for the Huskies (8-2-0, 6-0-0 WCHA). The freshman goaltender earned her third win, allowing just one goal, which came on a power play in the third period.

Sophie Olson scored her first collegiate goal and Sofianna Sundelin tallied her seventh of the season for St. Cloud State. Talya Hendrickson was the lone goal scorer for Bemidji State (1-7-0, 0-6-0 WCHA).

Olson opened the scoring at 10:12 of the first period. Holloway chipped the puck into the offensive zone where Madelyn Lee won a battle and passed to Olson in the slot. Olson ripped the puck into the top corner for the 1-0 lead.

Sundelin made it 2-0 at 12:52 of the second period. Alice Sauriol skated the puck out of the corner and handed it off to Maria Mikaelyan, whose long shot was tipped in by Sundelin. It was the second goal of the series for the senior forward.

The Beavers made it a one goal game with 5:08 left in the third period. On the power play, Hendrickson was able to deflect a shot from Elly Klepinger past Ehrman. It was the second goal of the season for Hendrickson.

Bemidji State pulled their goaltender with two minutes to go, but the Huskies blocked several shots in the final minutes to preserve the lead.

Holloway added the insurance with 22 seconds remaining, tapping a pass from Sauriol into the empty net for the 3-1 final. The senior recorded her second goal of the season.

The Huskies continue their homestand next weekend, welcoming in the No. 2 Wisconsin Badgers. Puck drop will be at 2 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
