Archived: Huskies Lock Up Home Ice with Spilt

TheSaint Cloud State Men’s Hockey team won at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin for the first time since 2001 and the Huskies locked up home ice for first round of theWCHA playoffs with a 5-1 win over Wisconsin on Friday.

Dan Dunn had 37 saves in game one and has not lost since November posting a 12-2-1 record so far this year. Ten different players had points for the Huskies while Ryan Lasch continued his hot streak with two more points. Lasch now sits just 8 points from tieing the all time scoring mark in team history.

Game two had just as much firepower but it was Wisconsin that saw themselves on the winning end with a 7-4 victory, earning the series spilt. Saint Cloud now sits 3 points behind league leader Denver in the race for 1st but the Pioneers have two games in hand. Mike Lee was the goalie of record as his recent struggles continue with allowing 13 goals over the last two games.

St.Cloud is off this weekend and will rest up as they get set to take on MSU-Mankato in a home and home series next weekend. Game one is in Mankato while the teams travel back up to the National Hockey Center on Saturday to finish out the matchup.
