Archived: Huskies Picked 3rd in the NSIC

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced this week their preseason poll and preseason player of the year and St. Cloud State is well represented in both areas.

The Huskies have been picked by the coaches to finish third in the NSIC and outfielder Jordan Smith has been named the NSIC Preseason Player of the Year.
SCSU is coming off of a spectacular season in 2010 where they won a school-record 41 games and saw multiple players break school records. One of those players was Smith who was named third-team Division two All-American after a record year. The Willmar, Minnesota native hit a school record .457 and also set team records for hits (96), home runs (15), runs-batted-in (78) and total bases (174).

Minnesota-State Mankato was picked to finish first in the NSIC as they received 11 of 13 first place votes.
