Archived: Huskies Salvage Split

The St. Cloud State Baseball team faced its first real setback of the season last weekend when the split a four-game series with Concordia-St.Paul. The Huskies were able to take two of the four games thanks to a walk-off two run homerun by Joey Benke in the bottom of the eighth inning on Sunday to post a 7-5 victory.

The player of the weekend was Concordia’s Blake DeVries who hit five homeruns in the four game series, with 11 RBI’s. For St. Cloud, Jordan Smith had a big second day of the series with three homeruns on Sunday.

The spilt leaves St. Cloud’s record at 13-3 in the NSIC with a 26-7 overall tally leaving them in 3rd place in the conference. Concordia sits at 9th with a 4-9 mark in the conference. St. Cloud will stay at home this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders against Augustana on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. Tune into 88.1 FM or kvsc.org for all four games of Husky Baseball this weekend.
