Archived: Huskies Shut Out Third Straight Opponent

It was an exciting weekend for the St. Cloud State soccer team as they defeated Minnesota-Crookston and Minnesota-Moorhead by a combined score of 7-0 and stretching their win streak to three games.

On Saturday it was the Huskies all over Crookston by a score of 5-0. Balance was the name of the game in the victory as five different players accounted for the Husky goals. Freshman goalkeeper Molly Bender posted her second shutout of the season and stayed undefeated in her collegiate career.

Sunday saw the Huskies take down the Dragons of Minnesota-State Moorhead by a score of 2-0 behind another shutout from Bender. She was helped out offensively by junior Alex Pafko. The Blaine, Minnesota native scored her fifth goal of the season in a strong offensive effort that saw SCSU put 11 shots on net.

The Huskies are now 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Coach Becky Heiberger’s squad will begin a six-game home-stand on Saturday against the University of Minnesota Duluth at Husky Stadium.
