Archived: Huskies Softball Swept Tuesday At Mankato

The SCSU softball team lost a pair of games to #9 MSU-Mankato by identical 2-0 scores on Tuesday afternoon in Mankato, MN.

Game one saw a pitcher’s duel between the Mavericks’ Kendra Huettl and the Huskies’ Kelly Franks. Franks was named the NSIC’s pitcher of the week earlier Tuesday afternoon for her no-hitter vs Bemidji State.

Franks lasted six innings, giving up one earned run on eight hits with nine strikeouts, but the SCSU offense couldn’t solve Huettl and the Huskies fell 2-0.

Kendra Franks locked horns with the Mavs Courtney McKelvogue in game two and both teams were held hitless until Kelly Olson ripped a double in the top of the fourth. Olson was stranded, however, and the Huskies had only three hits in game two. The final was again 2-0.

The two losses finish out the road portion of the Huskies schedule and their record now stands at 20-28 overall and 6-16 in NSIC competition.
