Archived: Huskies Well Represented in NWL

The Northwoods League is a 16-team, wood bat, collegiate summer league known all over the country for its high level of play and beautiful ballparks. Players from schools all over the country play in the league and once again this summer, St. Cloud State will be well represented. 

As of May 31st, the Huskies have eight players suiting up for NWL teams this summer. Outfielder Phil Imholte will play for the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers while fellow outfielder Brian Hansen will roam the outfield for the Duluth Huskies. Shawn Riesgraf will be in Alexandria for the second straight summer pitching for the Beetles, Riesgraf was their Opening Day starter in 2010.

Two starters for the Huskies will be playing for the Willmar Stingers as Kyle Fischer and Scott Lieser will both don the black and yellow and play their home games at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Pitcher Logan Birr will be north of the border playing for the Thunder Bay Border Cats in Thunder Bay, Ontario and pitcher Chris Kubitz and infielder Travis Cariveau will play for the hometown St. Cloud River Bats.
