Archived: Husky Baseball Splits Home Opener

The #5-ranked SCSU baseball team split their home-opening doubleheader Tuesday against Southwest Minnesota State at Joe Faber Field. The Huskies won game one 4-1 and lost game two 6-2

SCSU got a stellar pitching performance from Scott Lieser in game one. The junior righthander went the distance, striking out six while allowing just a single run. Junior outfielder Phil "The Thrill" Imholte went 3-4 with a run batted in to pace the Huskies at the plate.

The Mustangs had their revenge in game two by scoring two runs over the first two innings and never looking back. Leadoff hitter Ben Korger led the Mustangs in game two by going 3-5 with two runs scored.

The Huskies are at Bemidji State April 11th before returning home for a highly anticipated weekend series with Minnesota State-Mankato.
