Archived: Husky Recruit Gravel Drafted by Kings

When the SCSU men’s hockey team takes the ice this season, it may be to the tune of “We Three Kings.” Over the weekend incoming Husky recruit Kevin Gravel was selected in the NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings. The 6’4" defenseman is the third Husky to be drafted by L.A. joining senior Garrett Roe and recruit Nic Dowd. Los Angeles, who was hosting the draft at the Staples Center, made Gravel the 148th selection in the fifth round.

Gravel gives SCSU four incoming recruits who have been drafted by an NHL club. Nick Jensen, a defenseman is Red Wings property, forward Cam Reid is a Nashville prospect and Dowd and Gravel’s rights are owned by L.A.  St. Cloud will have 11 NHL draft picks on their roster next season.
