Archived: Husky Softball Opens NSIC season

It was a tough start to the conference season for the St. Cloud State softball team as they were swept by Minnesota-Duluth and took 1 of 2 games from Bemidji State. Wednesday in Duluth saw the Huskies falter defensively as they lost game one 6-2 and game two 9-6. Husky freshman sensation Ally Koski continued to swing a hot bat as she belted her team leading 7th home run of the year in game two against the Bulldogs.

The Huskies traveled northwest from Duluth to Bemidji still looking for their first conference win and got it against the Beavers in dramatic fashion. SCSU second baseman Jackie Dooley provided the offensive spark in the 5-2 11 inning win as she went 3 for 4 from the plate with 3 runs batted in . The Beavers were able to get the split in game two, shutting out the Huskies 2-0.

SCSU is now 14-12 overall and 1-3 in the NSIC. The Huskies will head down to Mankato to take on the Mavericks in a conference doubleheader on April 7th. First pitch is at 2 p.m.
