Archived: Jensen Gains Co-WCHA Rookie of the Week Honor

The news continues to get better for the St. Cloud State Men’s Hockey team after turning heads last weekend with a three point weekend at #3 Minnesota Duluth. Tuesday it was announced that freshman defenseman Nick Jensen was named Co-WCHA Rookie of the Week for his performance against Duluth. He shares the honor with UNO’s Johnnie Searfoss.

Jensen had a goal and two assists in Friday’s 8-2 win for the Huskies and has continued to impress from the blueline. The Detroit Red Wings draft pick has 5 goals and 11 assists for the Huskies on the season and has quickly made a name for himself in the WCHA for his strong skills as an offensive defenseman.

Jensen and the Huskies task gets no easier this weekend as #2 North Dakota comes to visit National Hockey Center. St. Cloud will be looking to avenge a pair of losses at UND earlier this season and keep their playoff home ice hopes alive.

Puck drop is at 7:07 both Friday and Saturday and you can hear both games right here on 88.1 FM KVSC.
