St. Cloud police say a kidnapping and assault suspect was shot and wounded in an exchange of gunfire with officers on the city’s east side. It happened just before 9:00 Sunday night on the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue. Officers were trying to arrest a 21-year-old St. Cloud man on a variety of charges, which also include robbery and burglary. When officers made contact with the suspect, the police department says gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and officers. Authorities say the man is hospitalized in serious but stable condition at the Hennepin County Medical Center. The officers, who were not injured, were identified as Sgt. Michael Koeniguer and Officer Eric Jensen.
