KVSC Pick Of The Week: Battles – Gloss Drop

New York experimental rock royalty Battles return with "Gloss Drop," out from Warp Records earlier this week.  This is the band’s first release since frontman Tyondai Braxton left the group back in 2010 to pursue a solo career, thus making Battles a trio, with Dave Konopka on bass/guitar/effects, Ian Williams on guitar/keys, and John Stanier on drums.

Despite the absence of Braxton’s dynamic vocals and leadership, Battles continues to thrive and develop as a band.  Gloss Drop features vocals from several artists, including Matias Aguayo on Ice Cream and Gary Numan on My Machines.  The remaining instrumental tracks pick you up and send you on a progressive rock journey to what music should sound like.

Battles’ Gloss Drop will be featured on-air on KVSC’s new music shows and can also be heard throughout the Afternoon and Late Night Progressive Rock Shows, running from 1-4 p.m. and 10-2 a.m.
