Archived: Lightning Strikes SCSU’s Parking Ramp
Lightning struck the St. Cloud State campus during the onslaught of severe weather that swept through central Minnesota Saturday. SCSU’s Buildings and Grounds says lightning hit the northwest corner of the 4th Avenue Parking Ramp, damaging several campus systems that run on electricity. One of the air handling units in the Miller Center was damaged and crews are working to repair the system. The first and second floors of the campus library will not have proper ventilation until the system is fixed. Also damaged was the Public Safety fire alarm system and the “blue light” security phone system. Both systems have been repaired.
