Maddox Scores 25 as Sabres Defeat Tigers
By Eli Zniewski / Sports Reporter / Sartell, Minn.
-On Thursday, January 8, the St. Cloud Tech boy’s basketball team was defeated 75-71 by the Sartell Sabres. Sartell’s Maddox Lewis led the game with 25 points and three 3-pointers made. The game was expected to be close, but the Sabres controlled things from the beginning.
Sartell came straight out with hard aggression, solid offense, and tight defense. The Tigers fell behind and trailed by at least eight points throughout the rest of the game. Sartell continued to apply pressure and penetrated the Tigers’ defense to make layups and two-point shots when they mattered.
The physical game saw an abundance of fouls called on both ends of the court. The Tigers struggled to play aggressively, and the Sabres were able to outlast St. Cloud with good shooting and clean defensive play. Sartell protected the ball and forced Tech turnovers to come away with a 75-71 win.
Next up: The Tech Tigers will take on St. Thomas Academy on January 10 at 2:30 p.m.
