Archived: Man Crashes Car Into City Hall

A Sauk Rapids man is in jail after police say he crashed into St. Cloud City Hall. Police say twenty-six year old Bradley Grant Shold failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of 4th Avenue and 1st Street South. Police tried to pull him over and say he stopped at first but then fled in his car going south on 4th Avenue.  Police say he then hit the median on Division Street which caused him to lose control and ultimately crashed into the East side of City Hall. After that Police say he tried to run away but after a short chase was arrested.

Shold was suspected by police to be under the influence of alcohol. Police discovered that Shold also had a gross misdemeanor warrant in Stearns County and a prior DWI.  After being treated for minor injuries, Shold was taken to Stearns County Jail where he is being held for court. Shold also had a passenger, a twenty-four year old woman of Waite Park who was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for minor injuries. .
 The east side of city hall received minor damage where a window was broken and a street and a tree were knocked over.
