A man is dead after crashing his ATV into a grove of trees Wednesday. Stearns County Deputies say at about 3:30 p.m., 63 year old Wilfred Anthony Marthaler of Paynesville was driving his ATV on 320th Avenue in Spring Hill Township when a dog ran onto the road. The ATV hit the dog killing it. Marthaler’s ATV continued until he ran off the road and into some trees. Marthaler was found lying nearby. He was taken to the Saint Cloud Hospital by Air Ambulance. Marthaler later died from his injuries at the Saint Cloud Hospital. Sheriff’s officials say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
