A man died early Wednesday morning after his car was struck by a train.

Stearns County Sheriff, Joel Brott, says the car got stuck on railroad tracks near the 3400 block of U.S. Highway 10 around 2:45 Wednesday morning. Witnesses say they saw the car stuck on the railroad tracks and the driver trying to rock back and forth to get off the tracks..

The car became stuck when it rolled off a concrete slab and its tire suck in between the tracks.

The train struck the car traveling west at 50 miles per hour and was unable to stop before hitting the car.

The identity of the driver is pending identification.
