The Stearns County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of a man who was killed after his truck hit a tree. 52-year-old Joseph Nickolas Salzbrun of Kimball has been identified as the driver of the truck.

Sheriffs went to County Road 142 near 207th Street in St. Augusta for a report of a one vehicle crash just after 5 a.m. Tuesday. Deputies say Salzbrun was heading northeast on County Road 142 when he lost control of the 2004 Ford Ranger pick-up truck and went into the north ditch before colliding with a tree.

Rescue workers attempted to revive Salzbrun but were unable to do so and pronounced him dead at the scene. Deputies say he was not wearing a seat belt but the airbags did deploy. The crash is currently being investigated.
