Archived: Man Leads Police on Short Chase
A St. Cloud man is in jail after allegedly stealing a vehicle and leading police on a short chase. St. Cloud Police were called to the 2500 block of 3rd Street North just after 6 a.m. Thursday morning for a report of a vehicle being stolen. A police investigation found that the car was taken without permission and drove away in an unknown direction.
The SUV was spotted in the area of 9th Street and 33rd Avenue North. The driver fled after police tried to stop the Ford Expedition and lead officers on a half-mile chase before ending in the 3100 block of Park Drive North after the driver jumped out before the SUV hit a tree.
The Stearns County k-9 Unit found the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Frederick Neal Bishop in 3100 block of 15th Street North. Bishop was taken to the Stearns County Jail and is facing charges of fleeing police officers, felony theft of motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.
