A Sauk Rapids man is in jail after allegedly threatening another man with a knife Saturday.

The victim told police that he was threatened with a knife outside of the Red Carpet bar. Police located the suspect, 27-year-old Matthew Simon Umbreit from Sauk Rapids. Umbreit was found to have the knife that matched the description given by the victim. During the investigation officers learned that Umbreit allegedly held the knife to the victim’s throat and threatened to cut him.

Umbreit was arrested for second degree assault and possession of a dangerous weapon. He is being held in the Stearns County Jail pending his first court appearance.
