Archived: Medical Study Seeks Diabetes and Cardiovascular Patients for Clinical Research
The Central Minnesota Heart Center and the St. Cloud Hospital are seeking people for a clinical research study. Specifically, they are looking for individuals who have Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Cardiovascular Disease for a medical study Called TECOS. The study is to determine the effect of Januvia at reducing cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke or death. Januvia is an F-D-A approved medication that promotes appropriate secretion of insulin and glucose levels.
The study will last approximately four years and involves clinic visits and periodic phone calls. Medication during the study will be provided for free and participants can be compensated for time and travel. The study may help doctors who treat diabetes to better determine the cardiovascular effects of the medications they prrescribe to lower blood sugars.
