It was a successful weekend for the SCSU men’s hockey team as they took three points from the Wisconsin Badgers, winning 7-2 Friday and tying 3-3 Saturday.

The Huskies offense was rolling on Friday night with David Eddy scoring a pair of goals to lead the way for SCSU. In fact, five Huskies had multiple points in the game with Cam Reid, Ben Hanowski, Nick Jensen, Nic Dowd and Eddy all charting a pair of points.  SCSU was excellent on special teams Friday night, going 2-for-6 on the power play while shutting down all five Wisconsin power play chances. Dowd even added a short-handed goal on a breakaway.

SCSU received a scare on Saturday when their captain, senior forward Drew LeBlanc broke his left leg after sliding feet-first into the back wall in his defensive end late in the second period. LeBlanc was taken off the ice on a stretcher and had surgery on the left leg Saturday night.

In the game, Wisconsin took advantage of seven consecutive power play minutes at the start of the third period to come back from a 3-1 deficit and earn the tie. The Huskies got goals in the game from Hanowski, Andrew Prochno and Jared Festler.  Festler’s second period tally was his team-leading sixth of the season.

Next on the schedule is a date with Minnesota State-Mankato on Friday and Saturday. KVSC will have coverage of these games from Mankato with pregame starting at 7:00 on Friday and 6:30 on Saturday.
