Archived: Men’s Hockey Gets Verbal Commitment from Mitsunaga

At only 16 years old, Kyle Mitsunaga has taken a big step towards his future. The defenseman from Boise, Idaho has given a verbal commitment to play college hockey at St. Cloud State.

The 5-foot-11, 180 pound Mitsunaga is currently playing for the L.A. Selects in California. He was scouted by SCSU assistant coach Mike Gibbons earlier this year. In 40 games this season, Mitsunaga has 16 goals and 20 assists. He can also play forward as well. His coach for the Selects is former SCSU forward Sandy Gasseau, who played for the Huskies from 1991-95.

Mitsunaga will be a high school senior next year, and hopes to be drafted into the USHL next season.
