Archived: Nonviolent Activist to Speak at Library
The founding Executive Director of the Nonviolent Peaceforce will be speaking at the St. Cloud Public Library. Pax Christi of St. Cloud is sponsoring Mel Duncan who will speak in the Bremer Room on April 3rd at 2 p.m.
Duncan will be speaking about the Peaceforce, which began in 2002 and is based in Brussels. The organization is involved in many countries such as Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Guatemala and South Sudan.
Duncan has received much acclaim for his work around the world. He received the Pfeffer International Peace Prize from the Fellowship of Reconciliation and the Utne reader named him one of the 50 visionaries who are changing the world in 2008. A second presentation will be given at the Gorecki Center on the College of Saint Benedict at 4:15 p.m.
