Archived: Pledges Weak for St. Cloud Regional Airport

Financial pledges are trickling in for efforts to bring an air carrier to the St. Cloud Regional Airport. A month after airport officials launched a campaign to raise about $2 million in pledges, just a fraction of the money has been promised to provide direct service to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.

Airport director Bill Towle says about $250,000 has been pledged so far. Towle says they haven’t been able to get some of the bigger companies and organizations to commit. Towle says airport officials are awaiting word on a $500,000 federal transportation grant.
