Archived: Polar Bear Plunge Raises $50,000
Last weekend, hundreds of people from central Minnesota raised more than $50,000 for a good cause by taking an icy plunge. At the Polar Bear Plunge, more than 300 people jumped into the freezing cold water to raise money for the Special Olympics of Minnesota. The Polar Plunge is part of a year-round fundraiser dedicated to benefit the Special Olympics. There are 13 plunges held across the state this winter. In all, $600,000 have been raised across Minnesota, with five more plunges scheduled for this winter.
